Believe in karma, destiny and the cycle of life...
From my personal experience I can conclude that however practical we become or futuristic, the wisdom of the ancient times, is still as relevant as it has been down the ages.
It is still true, that our actions have a direct impact on the karma and destiny for not just us, but also for our family, present and future.... Basically what I am trying to say here, is, in today's world, where each individual lives and believes, that he is responsible for just himself, and nobody should have a say in how he/she lives life and that his/her decisions impact only the said person, is actually wrong. The way of life our elders passed on to us, where we were taught to live in sync with the society around us and that every actions impacted everybody was and will always be true.
Susan believed so much in adopting a child since she was a teenager. She would always say to everyone, when I get married, I will adopt a child. Time passed, she fell in love, married her sweetheart, and though she thought about adoption, it was not in her immediate plans. Finally, when they decided to have a child, they came to know, they had problems. Her best choice would be adoption. Her in-laws were the conservative types, under normal conditions would not have approved her adopting a child. But looking at the circumstances, agreed happily. What she believed in, came to her, though she never planned it this way.
Ryan and his brothers, are good eligible boys, with a respectable family background. All are well settled in their jobs. However, they are having problems in finding their life partners and getting married and settling down in life. Everything is fine, and yet they cannot seem to settle down. The problem here, believe it or not, comes from few generations back. His great grandfather, was not the most perfect gentleman. He left his wife to get married again, leaving his first family to fend for itself. He led a comfortable life, and passed away in his old age. The next generations however, with god's grace, were all righteous and good people. They led good lives, with some difficulties thrown in. But this generation of boys from this family seems to be having it rough.
Thomas, was a very hardworking and genuine kind of guy. Living on a farm with his wife and kids, though he was not too well off, still he always made efforts to help others whenever and wherever possible. He was also a religious guy, who went to church regularly, and instilled his faith in his kids. Though his life did not turn out to be extraordinary, he lived well, and long enough to see his children succeed and well settled in life. He had the opportunity to spend his old age laughing and playing with his grand kids.
The people mentioned above, are all real and known to me, in fact a lot of you too would know someone like them in your life. If you pause to think and understand, you would also agree, to what the general pattern here seems to be suggesting..
Let us all realise, understand and implement it in our lives.... amen...

Treat your kids right - remember to be a good parent
Something I saw on Facebook the other day, and it made me realise, how right it is, and yet we all forget the whole picture in the hustle bustle of everyday parenting.
How many of us react impulsively at something trivial, like maybe the kids are not waking up and getting ready for school on time, or she dropped something on your well maintained carpet or sofa... Or she has messed up her room, or she simply is not doing things your way! And we blow our top, or behave like we are the kids, and don't know how to handle ourselves. So I have decided to pin this to my refrigerator and see it everyday to remind me to stay on track.
As a parent to a really mischievous 5 year old daughter, I really do lose my rationality quite often. And at the end of the day when I see my angel sleeping peacefully, realise, maybe I failed to teach her the right thing to do, or the right way to handle a situation. As parents, we always are in a difficult positions, cos she really looks up to me and thinks if Mamma does it this way, it's the right way!! So it is important for me to remember that I am her role model right now, and what I do or how I deal with her, is how she is gonna do it the next time, and so I got to do it the right way every time, and for that I have to keep the bigger picture in my mind always.
So the more I remember to see the big picture, the more I will be able to handle things the right way.
When I was a new mom, and was feeling completely hopeless and helpless, this book - 100 Promises to my Baby - by Mallika Chopra really helped me. It is an awesome feel good book, and does help you think as a responsible parent. It does not preach or anything, just has short stories or events, that will help you put yourself in perspective. It's a book every parent should have on their bookshelf.
Am jotting down a poem I read there, gave me goosebumps :
ON CHILDREN FROM THE PROPHET - By Kahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with
His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves the bow that is stable.

Nature makes me humble
Being outdoors, or in nature, really makes me feel humble and really close to God. The feeling that He created and made everything so beautiful and so right, gives a feeling of awe. Nature, be it a field, a sandy stretch, the sea, or anything small even, like a bird, a butterfly, an insect even, it's always beautiful and much more real, than any man made thing in this world.
The colours you see, the sounds you hear, the smells, everything about nature, makes me feel humble and a part of a world, we have lost touch with. The concrete of city life has taken away these pleasures from us, and from our children who have not seen and experienced nature at all.
As urbanisation grows and we encroach upon more land, sea everywhere, we are taking away the wonders of nature more and more. We need to realise and conserve, and build spaces for our future generations to experience the natural wonders of our Earth.
It is my dream to make some small space in this world, where I can go and feel nature, where I will be with God and feel the wonder of Nature. A small world where human is not the hero, nature is.....

Love your life
This is sooo true.... We often get confused and depressed in life for all the wrong and trivial reasons...
Keep such quotes and sayings in a folder and go through them every time you start getting such feelings, it just reminds you to be on track and forget about the silly worries and tensions of life.
After all, God just wants you to live your life, as happy as possible. Make mistakes, enjoy every moment and make the most of your life...
Finally, everything falls into place!
